Arsenal have the chance to freshen up their squad in the upcoming January transfer window

Arsenal delved into the summer market to sign the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi and Noni Madueke, among others, to bolster their squad. The Gunners have the chance to freshen up their ranks again with some additions in the January transfer window. They also have the opportunity to let some players head out the exit door as well if needed to free up space and funds.

The London outfit are sat top of the Premier League table as they look to win the title. They drew 2-2 with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday night. Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard got their goals against the Black Cats in the North East.

Arsenal target Hertha Berlin youngster Kennet Eichhorn

Arsenal are ‘leading’ the chase for Hertha Berlin youngster Kennet Eichhorn this winter along with Manchester United, according to The Sun. The 16-year-old is being tipped for a bright future in the game and his current club could face a battle to keep hold of him down the line amid attention from elsewhere. The report adds that Liverpool, Barcelona and PSG have also scouted him.

The Germany youth international has been on the books of Hertha since 2017. He penned his first professional contract back in July and made his debut in August in a league clash against Karlsruher. The teenager has since made nine appearances in all competitions in this campaign, eight of which have come in Bundesliga.2.

Arsenal could see Eichhorn as someone to boost their midfield department in the long-term. If he joined, he would give them more competition and depth in the middle of the park over the coming years. However, they will need to see off competition from elsewhere if they are to lure him over to England with rivals like United mentioned as potential suitors as well.

What now for Arsenal?

Arsenal will be disappointed that they weren’t able to pick up all three points against Sunderland. They conceded in stoppage time against the Black Cats. Nevertheless, they have kept their unbeaten run going and are back in action after the international break with a clash against rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking after their latest outing, Arteta said: “The last feeling is disappointment and frustration because we wanted the three points. We had to navigate through a really tough game, we knew that. It was very disruptive; we have to deal with situations that are difficult to deal with.

“They did really well and we conceded a goal that is not in our standards, but after that I think the team reacted really well, showed a lot of personality and courage. They scored the first goal, they scored the second goal, we had totally dominated the game and then you have to rely on defending the box when they start to commit six or seven players there.”

He added: “I want to win, and the game was almost there. But you know this is the Premier League and the manner that they play, they're going to harm you in their way. It's just one goal difference there.”
