£35M La Liga Star Says It Would Be“A Dream”To Play For Chelsea As He Looks To Follow In Drogba’s Footsteps

Levante striker Karl Etta Eyong has admitted that playing for Chelsea would be “a dream”.

The Cameroon international is in high demand after an excellent start to the season, and when asked by GiveMeSport whether he would be keen to join a Premier League team like the Blues, he replied:

“Growing up, Chelsea was the English team I probably watched the most because of Drogba, and Eto’o was there a year as well. Chelsea have often signed incredible African players.”

“There are so many big clubs in England, but as for [joining] Chelsea, why not? It would be a dream for me to play for Chelsea.”

Chelsea are not among the clubs pursuing the forward (currently)

Etta Eyong is attracting plenty of interest after scoring 6 goals and providing 3 assists in his first 12 appearances this campaign.

However, Enzo Maresca’s side are not thought to be one of his main suitors, with Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal having been credited with an interest in the player over the past couple of weeks.

Etta Eyong can be signed for £35m

The 22-year-old only joined Levante from Villarreal on Deadline Day at the start of September for €3m, but reports in the Catalan media have suggested that his contract includes a release clause.

Other Spanish clubs, including Barca, will need to pay €30m (£26m) to secure Etta Eyong’s signature, while foreign teams, such as Chelsea and others, would have to spend slightly more – €40m (£35m).

There is no doubt that scouts across Europe will be keeping a close eye on the striker‘s form over the next few months. If he continues to score goals at his current rate, there is a good chance that someone will pay his buyout fee either in January or at the end of the season.
