Gary Lineker on Premier League title race

Gary Lineker believes Arsenal are still the favorites to beat Liverpool and Manchester City to the Premier League title. He acknowledged City's form but added that the Gunners are in a good position.

The north London side sits atop the Premier League standings, sitting four points above second-placed Manchester City. They drew 2-2 against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, November 8. City, meanwhile, beat eighth-placed Merseysiders 3-0 at the Etihad the following day.

Gary Lineker shared his prediction on The Rest is Football podcast on Monday, saying:

"Arsenal are not chasing anyone this season, they’re actually out in front and that will help them. Being in that position means if you don’t lose matches you’ll be okay and no one else has been incredibly consistent. Man City are picking up certainly but Liverpool have been very poor."

"You would have to fancy Arsenal at the moment, really. We thought Liverpool were coming back to what they were last season with a couple of performances but today was a backwards step. If I was an Arsenal fan I would be feeling pretty good right now," he added.

Mikel Arteta's side have finished second in the Premier League in the last three seasons, finishing behind the Merseysiders last season.

Gary Neville states Manchester City and Liverpool could still challenge Arsenal for PL title

Following this weekend's Premier League games, Gary Neville shared his thoughts on the Premier League title race. He said that Manchester City have edged closer to competing with Arsenal, but added that Liverpool still stand a chance.

Neville said on the Gary Neville Podcast:

“I thought today was about which of these two clubs was going to emerge as Arsenal’s nearest challengers and could they send a message to the Gunners? Pep Guardiola, in his 1000th game as a manager, his team and his staff, have done that. It’s a really good day for Guardiola and Man City, but it’s a difficult day for Arne Slot and Liverpool.”

When asked if the Merseysiders still stand a chance to win the title, the Manchester United legend added:

“I’m going to say yes. If it clicked something could happen. They’ve got firecrackers and world-class players in that dressing room. There’s big characters too, Van Dijk, Alisson and Salah are huge characters. They’re Premier League greats so if they can pull it together with the manager who had a great first season and get something going with the younger players, maybe they can still do something.

“But today was a worry because it was a really, really poor performance. They need to have a good look at themselves and they’ll know they’re nowhere near it at this moment in time,” he added.

Liverpool are eighth in the Premier League standings, eight points behind the Gunners at the top.
