Former Premier League striker Wayne Rooney has said that Arsenal are doing one thing which ruins the atmosphere at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners went into the international break off the back of a 2-2 draw to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. It was a disappointing result for the Gunners, as they allowed Man City to gain ground on them, as City beat Liverpool.

However, Arsenal are top of the league still, and four points clear of Pep Guardiola’s side. They will return from the international break in over a week’s time, with a game against Tottenham Hotspur, the first North London derby of the season.
It will take place at the Emirates, where Spurs haven’t won for 15 years, so the Gunners fans will hope to remain at their best, and their loudest for when their bitter rivals visit on November 23.
Rooney says that Arsenal are ruining the Emirates atmosphere
Amid the game against Spurs coming up, the Gunners have seen some criticism from former Man United and England star Wayne Rooney, who has said that the way that Mikel Arteta‘s side are playing is damaging the atmosphere at the Emirates, which could be damaging in their title race.
Rooney said on the Overlap: “If you’re having your passing and it’s going from side to side a lot, naturally if you have a team who get the ball out wide, and put crosses in the box, and do sustained attacks and it’s aggressive, then that brings the fans up, that creates an atmosphere.
“Whereas if it’s a bit slower, which Arsenal are at times, when they’re keeping possession with teams sitting back on them, then that can bring a bit out of the atmosphere.”
Arteta’s style of play has been criticised a lot this season, with many suggesting that Arsenal are ‘boring’, and too defensive. However, nobody can argue with their current position, unbeaten in their last 14 matches in all competitions.
