Director gives Arsenal encouragement to sign‘high-profile player’ – Says right deal needed for sale

Earlier this month, Ekstra Bladet said Arsenal have been following BK Häcken’s Silas Andersen. They also reported a Gunners’ scout watched him live against RC Strasbourg in the UEFA Conference League last week.

After the European tie, Fotboll Skanalen caught up with the 21-year-old to specifically ask about Arsenal interest.

The midfielder said he was delighted with the Arsenal links but isn’t directly aware of their interest yet. Andersen also insisted he’s ready to make a big jump.

Fotboll Skanalen have contacted BK Häcken director of football Martin Ericsson, who responded to Andersen’s comments about the Arsenal links.

“It’s quite reasonable. He’s a young player who is doing very well and who is of great interest. It would be strange if he were to say much else,” he said.

“With that said, I think he’s doing very well. He’s here both mentally and physically and pushes every day in training and matches. As long as he is, I don’t feel worried at all. Then we’ll see what happens in the winter.”

Arsenal move a possibility for decent offer

The Swedish club signed the Dane from FC Utrecht in January. The Häcken official insists their desire is to keep him as long as possible and a potential move would depend on the offer.

“It’s clear that our ambition is to keep Silas as long as we can. Then we’ll see what things mean in terms of offers, clubs and how we and he approach it. We’ll see when a possible sale takes place,” Ericsson explained.

When asked what it’ll take for Häcken to sell the Arsenal target, he added: “We’ll see. Everything has to be right. For us, he’s a very important and high-profile player. So, it’s clear that something extra is needed. Exactly what that means is difficult to assess now.”

The Dane has a contract until December 2028 and Transfermarkt currently values him at €800,000. The Swedish club are likely to request a fee higher than that to consider selling him.
