“No Indication”: Fresh Report Provides Major Mikel Arteta Contract Update Amid 2027 Arsenal Claim

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s contract is currently due to expire at the end of the 2027 season, with just a year and a half left.

The Gunners are currently at the top of the Premier League table, four points clear of rivals Manchester City, after they drew 2-2 with Sunderland last time out, and City managed to beat Liverpool 3-0 to close the gap.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has a lot of pressure on him this season, with it seeming to be Arsenal’s best chance at winning a Premier League title since he joined in 2019. Furthermore, the Gunners’ boss has only won one trophy during his time at the Emirates, the FA Cup in 2020.

Seeing as the Gunners invested over £250m in the summer, they will want silverware in return, and so Arteta hopes that this season, he will finally be able to deliver a trophy after building what can only be described as a ‘super-team’ with incredible first team talent and depth.

ESPN provide Arteta Arsenal contract update

With Arteta’s current contract due to expire in 2027, the club will likely want to begin talking to the Arsenal boss over a new contract considering the impressive job he’s done at the club over a six-year period.

ESPN Journalist James Olley reported on a fresh contract update for Arteta, suggesting that there is not yet any indication of a new contract for the Gunners’ boss as of yet, as he would see the talks as some form of distraction.

Olley wrote: “There has been no indication yet that Arsenal are ready to hold talks with Arteta over a new contract, but he will have 18 months left on his deal at the turn of the year.

“Arteta waited until he entered the final year of his previous contract before committing himself and so may look to do so again, given he sometimes views contract talks as a distraction. Arsenal are understandably open to get him to sign beyond 2027 given the progress he continues to drive.”
