Arsenal Injury News And Expected Return Dates: Updates On Riccardo Calafiori, Viktor Gyokeres And 5 More

Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori should be available in their next game against Tottenham Hotspur after the international break.

The left-back is expected to miss Italy’s World Cup qualifier against Moldova with a hip issue, and he has had to skip training with the National team. It is understood that his issue isn’t a major one, but it does mean he could be in doubt for Arsenal’s next game against Spurs.

If Calafiori were to miss the North London derby, Myles Lewis-Skelly would likely start the game, which would be great for him as Thomas Tuchel says he needs more minutes to be selected for England.

However, it does seem that Calafiori’s injury is only a minor issue, and so nothing for Arsenal fans to worry about, especially as he could very well feature against Spurs next time out.

Expected return date – Sunday 23 November vs Tottenham Hotspur

Viktor Gyokeres

Swedish international Gyokeres suffered a muscle injury, meaning that he didn’t travel with the Sweden national team for their first World Cup qualifiers under new manager Graham Potter.

Mikel Arteta was asked last week whether Gyokeres would return for the Spurs game, and he replied: “I don’t know. There are a lot of things that have to happen in the next two weeks, and everything has to be perfect, but I think we’ll be very close.”

Noni Madueke

Madueke is also hoping to return against Tottenham, as he has been out for over a month with a knee injury. Before that, the former Chelsea winger really impressed for the Gunners, and so Arteta will be glad to have him back.

He is listed as a doubt for the Tottenham game, but there is a real chance that Madueke could be available for the North London derby.

Gabriel Martinelli

Brazil winger Martinelli also missed out on international duty as he is dealing with a knock that he picked up last week.

He isn’t understood to have sustained a serious injury, and so it is expected that he will be available for the game against Tottenham, although less likely that Martinelli will start, due to Arteta’s alternative options.

Kai Havertz

Havertz is close to returning from his long-term knee injury that he suffered in August after making just one Premier League appearance for Arsenal this season.

The German is back in training, and Arteta said last week: “Let’s see how he absorbs the load first when he starts to train with us, and when he’s done that, obviously we’re going to have to, especially in the first few weeks, keep an eye on him to manage the amount of minutes and when we play him.”

Martin Odegaard

Arsenal captain Odegaard is recovering from a knee injury that he suffered in late September, and the next game against Tottenham will likely come too soon for the midfielder.

It is understood that he will return in early December rather than late November. Arteta said last week: “It is going in a steady direction, but he is some distance away.”

Expected return date – Wednesday 3 December vs Brentford

Gabriel Jesus

Jesus has been dealing with an ACL injury since January last year, and as things stand, he could be looking at a whole year out of action before he returns for Arsenal. He’s back in training, but still in a very limited capacity.

Arteta said last week: “It’s about making the steps day-by-day in a different surrounding. He’s been doing everything on his own; now he’s got very competitive players around him, and let’s see how he copes with that. But he’s full of energy.”
