‘Final bureaucratic steps’ being sorted for Arsenal transfer – Deal practically done

Napoli are in the process of ‘finalizing the final bureaucratic steps’ for chief scout Maurizio Micheli to join Arsenal.

That’s [according to Calcio Napoli 24](https://www.calcionapoli24.it/primo_piano/micheli-arsenal-intesa-quadriennale-decisivo-il-rapporto-con-berta-cosa-filtra-sulla-n669221.html), who report that the move is now ‘practically announced’. They explain that Micheli is the one pushing for the move after Napoli failed to offer him a new deal.

His contract expires in June, and he’s been looking for a new job for some time. The choice of Arsenal is no coincidence. Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is an old friend after the pair worked together at Brescia.

Berta is believed to be a fan of Micheli’s ‘scouting methodology’ that led to signings such as Marek Hamsik in the past. He’s hoping Micheli can add value to his network at the Emirates.

The official transfer to Arsenal is expected soon. Napoli are finalising the final bureaucratic steps before Micheli heads to London. He’s expected to sign a four-year deal with the Gunners. Berta will then add him to his staff and task him with scouting around Europe.

Napoli are already working on finding a replacement for their scout. Two additions are already on their way and more could arrive as well.
