Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori has been forced to withdraw from the Italy squad due to a hip injury.
That’s according to Il Messaggero, who reports that Calafiori is now out of the international break completely. He will miss the clash against Norway on Sunday.
They report that Calafiori has been forced to withdraw due to a long-standing hip issue. It was the same injury which saw him left on the bench earlier this week.
They also say its not the first time that the Arsenal defender has been sidelined. According to them, he has frequently struggled with minor muscle issues in recent months which have ‘slowed his season.’.
That might be news to Arsenal, who he’s played regularly for this season. Either way, he’s now heading back to Arsenal and won’t be staying with Italy for the rest of the international break.
Whether he features for Arsenal after the break ends, remains to be seen. The fact that it’s a longstanding issue would suggest there are concerns about it being made worse in the near future. It is perhaps that which has now ruled him out entirely for Italy.
