The Gunners went into the international break on top of the Premier League table after drawing 2-2 to Sunderland. They are four points clear of Manchester City, and will be hoping to extend that lead when they return from the break next week.

Mikel Arteta’s side will welcome local rivals Tottenham to the Emirates on Sunday 23 November, hoping to get the better of their North London foes in their first meeting of the season.

Arsenal are unbeaten since September, and Tottenham have won two of their last five games, losing another two and drawing one. They drew 2-2 with Manchester United in their last match before the international break.

Alan Smith predicts Arsenal win vs Tottenham

Ahead of the first North London derby of the season, former Arsenal forward Alan Smith exclusively told GoonerNews how he thought the game would go, and he believes that while Spurs could cause problems, Arsenal will get the better of their rivals.

Smith told us via BestBettingSites.co.uk: “Arsenal are strong, and they’ll be wanting to bounce back after Sunderland. Spurs are in a bit of a strange position where you never quite know what you’re going to get. It’s lacklustre. The game against Man United certainly was. They’ve got too many players underperforming.

“The new lad’s come in – Xavi Simons is really struggling. Kolo Muani doesn’t look properly match fit. Tels, the same, struggled to settle. So with the injuries that they’ve got with Solanke, Kulusevski, Maddison, and that, they’re finding it hard to really go at teams and ask questions and score goals. So I don’t see them having enough.

“But it’s a derby at the end of the day, and the gap can be closed in derbies. Having said that, I don’t think Arsenal are going to be troubled too much.”
