Arsenal are prepared to trigger Karl Etta Eyong in the January window and beat off competition for the Levante striker.
According to Fichajes, Arsenal are in the mix for Levante striker Karl Etta Eyong alongside many of their rivals from England and abroad. The Gunners are prepared to trigger the striker’s €40 million release clause to get a deal for the 22-year-old La Liga striker in place.
Arsenal does not need a new striker by any means, as they have three senior stars in the position. Summer arrival Viktor Gyokeres was only the latest to be added to the ranks, as Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are the others occupying the centre-forward role.
Yet, Mikel Arteta is finding solutions in the market to bring in fresh reinforcements, and they could angle a move for a new striker in the process. The possibility of Gabriel Jesus leaving in the near future seems high, as Levante striker Karl Etta Eyong is on their list.
Etta Eyong has big interest from Premier League sides, with the striker even stating recently that he dreams of making the move to Chelsea, who are indeed interested. Arsenal, on the other hand, have been aggressive in the market to get their targets in place, and the Levante striker is on their list.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are also in the mix, but it is the Gunners are the ones reportedly prepared to trigger a €40 million release clause in his contract. Given the PSR concerns, the club will hope to get a deal in place with the Spanish side that would allow them to pay the full price but in installments and structure the finances over a period of time rather than paying it all up front.
Karl Etta Eyong could shine at Arsenal
Etta Eyong has produced some brilliant performances this season, and there’s plenty of development still left in the striker. Hence, Arsenal would like to take a bet on the 22-year-old La Liga striker and bring him early to aid his progress in north London.
He could be a solid star for the future, for the present too, but currently Arsenal do not realistically need a striker as such. However, given the competition in place for the 22-year-old La Liga striker, signing him now could be a market opportunity, something the Gunners are prepared to bet on.
