Matildas Abroad Review: Siemsen scores hattrick; Hunt helps Spurs hold Arsenal to draw

Remy Siemsen finished the Swedish league season with a bang, scoring a hattrick for Kristianstads DFF to help end their 2025 campaign on a high.

Elsewhere, the North London Derby ended scoreless, with Clare Hunt immense in Spurs' back line to hold off the European Champions.

**England**

Manchester City solidified their place at the top of the WSL table with a convincing 3-0 victory over Manchester United. Rebecca Knaak, Khadija Shaw and Lauren Hemp were the goal scorers, with Kerstin Casparij picking up two assists. **Mary Fowler** remains unavailable for City as she continues her ACL rehabilitation.

West Ham secured their first victory of the league season, overcoming Everton 3-1. Anouk Denton, Amber Tysiak and Shekiera Martinez were on the scoresheet, with the Hammers being good value for their win. **Katrina Gorry** played the full game in midfield for West Ham, while **Clare Wheeler** did the same for the Toffees.

Liverpool held Chelsea to a shock 1-1 draw. The Blues took the lead through Alyssa Thompson, but were not able to regain it after Beata Olsson’s equaliser. **Ellie Carpenter** started for Chelsea while **Sam Kerr** was rested and not named in the matchday squad.

Brighton & Hove Albion ran over Leicester City, winning 4-1. Former A-League Women’s striker Madison Haley got goalscoring underway as the Seagulls dominated from start to finish. **Emily van Egmond** started for Leicester and played the full match.

London City Lionesses continued their impressive form, defeating Aston Villa 3-1. Scores were level at half-time before goals from Izzy Goodwin and Saki Kumagai lifted the Lionesses to a result. **Alanna Kennedy** was a second-half substitute for London City.

Tottenham Hotspur held Arsenal to a scoreless draw in a North London Derby. The Gunners created nearly 2xG but could not breach a defence that included **Clare Hunt** at its centre. Hunt was immense at centre-back for the full 90 minutes, while Spurs teammate **Charli Grant** was an unused substitute. **Kyra Cooney-Cross**, **Steph Catley** and **Caitlin Foord** all started for Arsenal but were not able to find a way through.

**Sweden**

Malmö FF defeated Vittsjö GIK 3-1 in a rollicking final match of the season. There was one red card each for both sides, a missed penalty and a converted one, and plenty of chaos. Ultimately, Malmö proved too good. **Courtney Nevin** started for Malmö before being withdrawn at half-time, while **Daniela Galic** was not in Vittsjö’s matchday squad.

**Remy Siemsen** ended the Damallsvenskan season with a first-half hat-trick, as Kristianstads DFF defeated Alingsås 7-1. **Amy Sayer** was on the scoresheet as well before half-time as Kristianstads had a day to remember. Both Siemsen and Sayer started the match before being withdrawn in the second half. 

AIK Fotboll fell 2-1 to Norrkøping in their final game of the season. They took the lead in the first half, but a red card to the goalscorer Haruna Tabata shortly afterwards made life difficult, and they were ultimately unable to hold on. **Jada Whyman** remains unavailable for AIK through injury.

The Portland Thorns fell 2-0 to the Washington Spirit in the NWSL semi-final to bring their season to a close. Gift Monday scored early before Croix Bethune sealed the result for the Spirit late in the game. **Mackenzie Arnold** and **Kaitlyn Torpey** both started for the Thorns.

**Germany**

Eintracht Frankfurt won a wild cup tie against TSG Hoffenheim, with the final score ending 6-4. Hoffenheim took the lead in the first half before Frankfurt overran them. **Hayley Raso** was an unused substitute for Frankfurt, while **Jamilla Rankin** was a late withdrawal from Hoffenheim’s side, after initially being set to start at left-back.

**Italy**

AS Roma got back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Lazio. Lucia Di Guglielmo scored the only goal of the match in the first half that proved to be the winner. **Winonah Heatley** was unavailable for this game due to suspension.
