Boost for Arsenal as transfer target’s contract talks stall

Premier League leaders Arsenal host rivals Tottenham Hotspur in an intriguing North London derby on Sunday.

The Gunners currently sit four points clear of Manchester City at the summit of the top flight table, while the Lilywhites are down in fifth.

Mikel Arteta has guided his side to second-placed finishes in each of the past three Premier League seasons, and the Spaniard will be desperate to ensure his side go one better and win the title this time around.

While the ex-Everton midfielder will be pleased with his side’s start to the season, it has now emerged that the North London giants have been handed a welcome boost in their pursuit of a Serie A star.

According to CaughtOffside, contract talks between Italian side Juventus and winger Kenan Yildiz have stalled due to the player’s salary demands.

The report claims that the Turkey international – who has attracted interest from a number of clubs including both Chelsea and Arsenal – is demanding a package worth around £5.3 million-per-year, but the Old Lady believe that to be too high.

Yildiz, 20, has established himself as one of the most exciting players in the Italian top flight over the past 12 months.

The Turkish attacker joined Juventus from Bayern Munich’s academy in 2022 and has since played 98 games for the club, scoring 19 goals and providing 15 assists.

Juventus are understandably keen to ensure that the youngster stays in Turin, and they are therefore seeking to agree a new long-term contract that will run beyond the end of his current one in 2029.

Despite this, the club have temporarily paused discussions over a new deal as they assess their position, with Spanish giants Real Madrid also among the clubs circling.

If Juventus do decide to sell the Turkish attacker, the report claims that they will likely demand a dee in excess of £88 million to allow him to leave.
