Former Denmark star Lars Jacobsen says there's no chance they'll lose to Scotland on Tuesday night – risking another backfire after a confident Belarus prediction blew up in their face.

The Danes are in Glasgow for a winner-takes-all World Cup showdown with a guaranteed spot at next year's finals in North America on the line.

Scotland opened the door to the group leaders to wrap it up early on Saturday night with a defeat in Athens – but Brian Riemer's side's incredible failure to beat Belarus means it's all to play for at a sold out Hampden this week.

That shock 2-2 draw in Copenhagen caused one star to admit he'd 'left his ass in a high position' when he appeared to write off Belarus – only to fall flat on their face against them and let their qualification hopes go down to the final day.

Have the Danes learned? Well, the national media certainly haven't.

Because 81-times capped star Jacobsen, who is now a TV pundit, has no doubts at all that his nation will reach the World Cup.

He said: "We are still favourites to get to the World Cup. The Scots must win and we have been good away from home.

"We will control the game because of our strong midfield. The Scots will have to deal with that.

"There will be 50,000 at Hampden Park, but we should be able to withstand that. And with the players we have. I am actually not that worried.

"So we will not lose over there - I can promise that."

Meanwhile ex-Arsenal ace Nicklas Bendtner insists his countrymen will still feel very comfortable about the winner-takes-all showdown at Hampden.

Fellow pundit, Bendtner, who also won 81 caps for Denmark, added: "It will be a completely different game from the Belarus match.

"We are used to the pressure.

"Let's not forget that we are still in a very favourable position. But we do need to improve in communications in Glasgow and show more responsibility."
