Former Arsenal star Ian Wright has this week moved to launch a stern defence of Real Madrid and England midfielder Jude Bellingham.
This comes amid ongoing criticism of the youngster on the part of the English media.
As part of his role as a pundit, Wright was drawn on the persistent negativity surrounding Bellingham in his home country, in the aftermath of the Three Lions’ 2-0 victory over Albania on Sunday.
And the ex-goalscorer made use of the opportunity to throw his full backing behind the 22-year-old:
“They need to create this kind of controversy because there’s nothing else to say until the World Cup, so it’s going to continue like this until the World Cup. They hate the fact that they can’t reach him. They hate the fact that they can’t negatively influence his club career like they’ve done with so many others before him. A young man blessed, endowed with overflowing talent and love.”
Bellingham for his part actually scooped Man of the Match honours for his latest showing on the international front.
Despite Harry Kane netting both of England’s goals in Albania yesterday evening, it was the Real Madrid man who was voted as the game’s standout performer by the Three Lions faithful.
