Gordon Strachan reckons Andre Onana has made his last appearance for Manchester United.

Onana joined Trabzonspor on-loan in September, having fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford. The Cameroon international made just one United appearance, before leaving. United boss Ruben Amorim now regards Sanne Lammens as his long-term No.1 goalkeeper. And former United favourite Strachan believes there is no way back for Onana, even when his loan deal expires.

Strachan told Esports News : "I think Andre Onana has played his last game for Manchester United.

"At United you must have a presence in goal - whether it’s physical, attitude, or character, you have to be a presence. I don’t think he had that when he played for the club.

"A big problem for me is that I'm not sure Onana really wanted to be at Old Trafford. He looked like he’d rather be somewhere else and that might be what he needs to start enjoying his football again.

"At no point did I think he was enjoying playing football for United. I'd be shocked if I saw him play again for the club. I think his United career is over in that respect."

Strachan, meanwhile, admits he is still not convinced about United's decision to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig in a £73m deal. Sesko has scored just twice in 12 appearances this season and Strachan added: "Benjamin Sesko has looked tentative, to say the very least.

"He’s still a young player, but I’m not sure about him at the moment. You have to give young players more time, but I haven’t seen anything from him so far since he joined that has shown much promise.

"The other attacking signings, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, have looked much better - Mbeumo in particular. He’s made the difference on a few occasions for United already and he has an honesty about his game that I really like.

"He has really stepped up in the last few games against Liverpool, Brighton and Spurs. He could be very important for United this season.

"Sesko, on the other hand, needs to show more glimpses and moments like Cunha and Mbeumo have done. It’s still early days, but he needs to be having more of an effect on games."
