Manchester United reportedly believe that Harry Amass and Radek Vitek could become valuable members of Ruben Amorim’s squad next season. The two youngsters are currently away from United on loan in the Championship, but their progress is being keenly monitored.

Left-back Amass is playing regularly for Sheffield Wednesday, while goalkeeper Vitek is getting game time for Bristol City. Amass has seven first-team appearances to his name with United, while Vitek is yet to make his debut.

United have already decided that they are happy to leave Amass with Wednesday until the end of the season. He has started all 11 of their matches since joining the crisis-hit club on deadline day and there is no rush to recall the England under-19 international.

Vitek, meanwhile, has started all 15 of Bristol City’s games this season and has been impressive between the posts. The 22-year-old is joint-third in the Championship’s clean sheet table and it is hoped that he will continue to develop during the 2025/26 campaign.

Nevertheless, The Sun says that both Amass and Vitek could find themselves in United’s squad next season. Amorim is ready to integrate academy graduates into his squad and the duo are top of the list.

Amass has plenty of competition at left-back, with Patrick Dorgu, Luke Shaw, Noussair Mazroaoui and Diogo Dalot playing in the position. Vitek has a more favourable outlook, with United’s goalkeeping department looking wide-open.

Andre Onana has been shipped out on loan to Trabzonspor and United will try to sell him permanently in the summer. Altay Bayindir has not impressed in his opportunities and could also be offloaded, while third-choice Tom Heaton is 39 years old and surely approaching the end of his career.

Vitek could, in theory, become the number two goalkeeper behind summer signing Senne Lammens. He has been with United since 2020 and is currently on his third loan spell, after spending time with Accrington Stanley and Austrian side Linz.

Bristol City boss Gerhard Struber has been blown away by his performances. “He is very clear; he’s so young, but super clear. He’s so focused, his decision-making is, I would say, 99 per cent always in the right way and in on-ball moments as well,” he said recently.

“Also, Manchester United are super interested in how he plays every week. I’m always in exchange with them, so I would say he has a bright future for his chest. My trust, my belief in him, is at a very high level. I’ve worked also with very many good goalkeepers in the last few years, also in the Champions League, but Radek Vitek, his profile has a big future.

“He’s a Premier League goalkeeper in the future. For me, it’s not a second opinion. Of course, he has to grow and also he has to develop, but the profile shows me clearly that he can be a goalkeeper in the highest league in England.”
