United also won the Premier League title on the final day of the season, boasting two more points than runners-up Chelsea.
In the FA Cup, United reached the Sixth Round after wins over Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal. The run came to an end following a shock 1-0 defeat against Portsmouth.
The League Cup run ended prematurely as Coventry City beat United 2-0 in the Third Round.

Manchester United 1-1 Chelsea (6-5 on penalties)
The decisive victory that secured the double.
50 years on from the Munich Air Disaster and 40 years since the club’s first European Cup win, Ferguson helped United reach the promised land once more.
Ronaldo opened the scoring with a powerful header, before Frank Lampard scored an equaliser that would force the game to extra time in penalties.
While Ronaldo missed his spot kick in the penalty shootout, misses from John Terry and Nicolas Anelka proved more decisive as United lifted the European Cup in Moscow.

The match was tied at 1-1 when Owen Hargreaves scored a free-kick in the 72nd minute to end Arsenal’s title hopes.
United’s win was a massive step towards winning the league title, giving the Reds a six-point lead at the top of the table.
Manchester United 3-0 Liverpool
Liverpool were dealt a blow in the first half when Javier Mascherano was sent off at Old Trafford.
It was inevitable that United would kick on and take advantage of Liverpool having one less man on the pitch.
Goals from Wes Brown, Ronaldo, and Nani sealed a comprehensive victory.
Manchester United 1-0 Barcelona
This win secured United’s place in the Champions League final. It will be remembered for being an extremely intense two-legged affair against a great Barcelona side.
The tie was decided by a spectacular 25-yard strike from Paul Scholes in the 14th minute, which a Lionel Messi-inspired Barcelona side were unable to react to.
Barcelona dominated possession and came close on multiple occasions after chances from Deco and Thierry Henry.
Wigan 0-2 Manchester United
It was the win that saw United pip rivals Chelsea to clinch their 17th title triumph on the final day of the season.
Ronaldo opened the scoring for United from the spot after 33 minutes following Emmerson Boyce’s foul on Wayne Rooney.
Ryan Giggs sealed the win 10 minutes from time after coming on as a substitute.
What else happened in 2007/08?
Ronaldo won his first Ballon d’Or award after winning the Premier League Golden Boot (31) and the European Golden Shoe for being the continent’s top scorer.
On the final day of the season, Giggs came off the bench to equal Sir Bobby Charlton’s record of 758 appearances for United. He marked the moment by scoring a goal.
