Ruben Amorim's Manchester United are on the up

Ruben Amorim has already identified where Manchester United need to sharpen up before their upcoming return to action.

Currently enjoying a five-game unbeaten run, United welcome Everton on Monday with victory potentially lifting them into the Champions League spots. With a positive mood enveloping Old Trafford for the first time since the Portuguese boss arrived last November, he has openly discussed the problem he needs to address to maintain their encouraging form.

Alongside his revelation, one United player has been informed their time at the club is effectively finished, as we examine the latest developments surrounding the Red Devils who aim to build on a position of seventh in the Premier League table.

Here's all the latest news from Old Trafford.

Andre Onana has featured in just one match for United this campaign - their humiliating shock defeat to Grimsby Town - before joining Trabzonspor on loan in September.

With Senne Lammens excelling between the posts, former United legend Gordon Strachan reckons the Cameroonian's Old Trafford days are numbered, reports the Mirror.

The Scotsman told Esports News: "I think Andre Onana has played his last game for Manchester United. At United you must have a presence in goal - whether it's physical, attitude, or character, you have to be a presence. I don't think he had that when he played for the club.

"A big problem for me is that I'm not sure Onana really wanted to be at Old Trafford. He looked like he'd rather be somewhere else and that might be what he needs to start enjoying his football again.

"At no point did I think he was enjoying playing football for United. I'd be shocked if I saw him play again for the club. I think his United career is over in that respect."

Amorim's firm position

Despite enjoying his longest unbeaten streak since arriving in Manchester last year, Amorim remains frustrated with his squad. Strong first-half displays followed by lacklustre second-half performances have become a recurring pattern for the Red Devils.

Rollercoaster encounters against Brighton, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur have convinced Amorim that his players' mentality needs addressing when they hold leads. When questioned about why these drop-offs occur, he explained to the Premier League: "I think we lose intensity.

"I think we have some problems in two games that we lost, we lose Casemiro with some pain, Harry Maguire the same thing, and they are key players not just the way they play and the experience they have, the set pieces and people don't take that into consideration.

"I think when we are in advantage, we lose that thing of wanting to continue to press in the same way. We had that against Brighton until we suffered the first goal. So it's a lot of things together.

"We think about 'let's not suffer a goal' and our mindset should be 'we have one goal, we must get another and have the opportunity to kill the game'. So it is mental but it is also physical, we need to improve in that aspect also."

Marcus Rashford, who has been out of the United squad for nearly a year, is back to his best at Barcelona this season. The 28-year-old forward's impressive tally of 15 goals and assists in 16 games across all competitions has earned him a recall to the England squad.

Rashford added two more caps to his England career during the international break, and it was his performance that caught the eye of Arsenal star Eberechi Eze. Eze was full of praise for his fellow England international.

Speaking on the Beast Mode On podcast, Eze gushed: "I've always known he's a good player, but for that first camp, I remember going away like, 'okay, this guy's part of some other stuff'.

"The way he strikes the ball. The way he's running with the ball, how he operates is. He's an incredible, incredible player. And so, nah, I'll be honest, I enjoy watching him."
