Manchester United player faces availability setback as he’s hit by a fever

Last summer, Manchester United let Marcus Rashford join Barcelona on a season-long loan deal.

The England international returned to Barcelona yesterday after being part of his third international break of this season.

On Thursday, Sport stated the Manchester United owned player was absent from Barca’s training facilities. The La Liga winners insisted there was nothing serious behind his absence.

Mundo Deportivo now report the 28-year-old reported to training on Friday morning, after missing yesterday’s training.

The Manchester United man had to leave the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper [Barcelona’s training centre] early due to a ‘severe case of flu’. This is the reason why he wasn’t part of yesterday’s training.

Rashford has been eligible for selection for every fixture since he arrived on loan from Manchester United. According to the Catalan newspaper, there’s now serious doubts over his involvement in Saturday’s league clash against Athletic Club Bilbao.

In his pre-match press conference on Friday, Hansi Flick has confirmed the forward’s setback. He has also raised doubts over his availability for tomorrow’s clash and another report from Mundo have relayed his comments.

“Marcus has a fever and was out yesterday and today, and I have doubts about whether he’ll be available tomorrow,” he said.

Barcelona have confirmed Rashford’s purchase option is not that high. Last month, claims from Spain reported it’s set at €30m.

A trip back to England, and Rashford has returned to Barcelona with the flu.
