Carlos Baleba’s departure from Brighton and Hove Albion in the near future seems inevitable, with the likes of Manchester United lurking.
That’s according to former Mali international Cédric Kanté, an analyst for Canal+. He’s [been speaking to Africa Foot about the Brighton star.](https://africafoot.com/cedric-kante-baleba-va-partir-reste-a-savoir-quand/)
Baleba has established himself as a key player for the Seagulls in August 2023. He’s impressed hugely since that point, helping Brighton to quickly move on Moises Caicedo.
Much like Caicedo, he’s quickly earned himself admirers. Manchester United have been put at the front of the queue and were linked repeatedly with a move throughout the 2025 summer transfer window. Their interest is believed to be ongoing as they continue to rebuild under Ruben Amorim.
Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have all been linked with potential moves as well. Brighton, so far, have resisted any interest in their midfielder but how long that continues remains to be seen.
Kanté thinks it will be short-lived and a big move is now on the cards. And he isn’t concerned for anyone potentially paying €100m either.
“Manchester United have been interested in him for some time now, especially during the last summer transfer window,” he said.
“It doesn’t really surprise me, as the club has the resources to sign him and offer him a very high salary. In my opinion, yes, Baleba will sign with a big English club soon. It seems a done deal.
“Now, the question is when the Cameroonian will leave Brighton. If a club comes in with an offer of over €100 million, his management will find it hard to refuse. And whoever signs him will be getting a good deal: he’s a reliable, consistent player they can count on.”
