Ruben Amorim has set his sights on three blockbuster transfer targets to bolster his Man United side

Ruben Amorim is prepared to play the long game to facilitate a significant reshuffle within the Manchester United squad.

The Red Devils boss is eager to improve his options in midfield and he’s not just after one marquee signing, he’s gunning for three big recruits.

United are off to a strong start to their 2025/26 season but Amorim is well aware of changes that still need to be made to take his side to the next level. As out of favour figures still remain on the books, reports naturally suggest exits are imminent but captain Bruno Fernandes is also being mentioned in recent transfer stories.

Bruno Fernandes part of Man United triple transfer plan

According to TEAMtalk, United are eager to sign all three of their top midfield targets, should the rest of their proposed business fall into place.

Amorim and co want to move for one of their targets in the January window but there ‘is an acceptance’ that it may take ‘two or three windows’ to get all deals over the line. The sheer amount of money it will cost is the main factor, which is why the Red Devils may need to commit to playing the long game.

The outlet claims that Marcus Rashford and Casemiro are two of the three players highlighted to help fund the midfield restructure. Rashford is expected to sign for loan club Barcelona on a permanent deal next summer, while Casemiro’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season.

The other name is Fernandes, who United ‘plan to replace in the coming transfer windows’.

For the most part, the captain has not been included in recent transfer rumours but a report over the summer highlighted just how desperate things had become at Old Trafford following a dismal season.

A dramatic report from May claimed United had listed every first team player for sale, including Fernandes, who was heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

Who are Man United looking to sign in 2026?

The three midfielders on Amorim’s radar are all currently playing for Premier League rivals. Highly sought-after Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton has been on the radar for a while now, and remains a top target moving into 2026.

The TEAMtalk report claims that Amorim isn’t satisfied with pursuing just one of these three targets, he wants to bring all three to Old Trafford from next year onwards.

Naturally, signing the full trio will cost serious money, as a combined value of £250 million has been quoted, with Baleba the most expensive of the lot as the Seagulls ‘insist’ on their £100 million price tag.

Fernandes is under contract until 2027, so next year will be United’s last chance of getting a significant amount of cash for him, assuming the option to extend for another year isn’t activated.

It was reported last month that United would accept £40 million for their captain. However, they could squeeze more money out of a deal if Saudi Arabia re-enter the picture. It was reported over the summer that Al-Hilal were willing to pay as much as £100 million for Fernandes’ signature.
