There is a very special anniversary in the Premier League this weekend: it is 29 years since Ali Dia made his infamous solitary appearance for Southampton. After he somehow managed to convince Graeme Souness that he was a cousin of Ballon d’Or holder George Weah, it didn't take long to see him on the pitch to realise he wasn't as good.
Dia didn't finish the match and never played in English professional football again. Still, the records will forever show he made one Premier League appearance. That will never be taken away from him.
In celebration of this unique moment in Premier League history, Opta Analyst have compiled a list of every player to have made just one appearance in the competition. There are 380 who hold that honour, 17 of whom did so for Manchester United. Here is a look at them all.
