Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim recently expressed that the Red Devils will try to hold onto their Africa Cup of Nations representatives a little while longer ahead of the tournament in Morocco next month.

According to the rules, clubs ought to release their AFCON players two weeks before the first game which is scheduled to take place on 21 December.

However, Amorim mentioned that United are now attempting to negotiate with the Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Morocco Federations to release Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui at a later date.

“We have the rules for when we have to release the players [but] we are trying to have the players a bit longer,” Amorim said, as per BBC.

“It is not just in our hands. We will see.

“We will try to arrange something with the federations.”
