Manchester United agreed a deal to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer and it's paid dividends

Manchester United are gearing up to get back into action after the final international break of 2025.

The Red Devils will face Everton at home on Monday night, hoping to continue the mini-revival that has taken some heat off head coach Ruben Amorim. After consecutive victories over Liverpool and Brighton, United were left somewhat disappointed with draws against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham.

However, following a rocky start to the season, there are indications that Amorim's costly squad is starting to come together. David Moyes, the manager in the opposing dugout on Monday, is all too familiar with the pressure Amorim is facing, having only lasted 10 months after taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013 and making some intriguing signings during that spell.

Attention is also shifting towards the January transfer window, when United will aim to bolster their squad in a bid to secure a return to European football. Here's a round-up of all the latest United news.

Amorim has been pleasantly surprised by one of his summer signings, reports the Mirror.

The goalkeeper position has been a thorny issue for United since David de Gea's departure, with his successor, Andre Onana, making a series of expensive errors.

Altay Bayındır was given an opportunity at the beginning of the season but failed to make an impact, while Onana was sent on loan to Trabzonspor and seems unlikely to play for the club again.

Consequently, United recruited Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp. Whilst it remains early days, the 23-year-old has caught the eye with some composed displays.

Amorim has been thrilled to witness Lammens appear so self-assured so quickly into his United stint. He told Stadium Astro: "Of course, we do our diligence when we are going to buy players.

"It was a surprise. All the pressure that we suffer with the goalkeeper position, to arrive here and to show that confidence. To transmit that confidence to the team, I think, was a little bit of a surprise for me.

"I'm not going to say everyone, but I'm talking as a manager. I have no problem to say that was a surprise for me."

Club icon Bryan Robson is keen to see United bolster their midfield with another player similar to Casemiro.

Having predominantly recruited attacking talent during the summer, the centre of the park will be a priority area for Amorim before the January window opens.

Former Real Madrid ace Casemiro, 33, has faced scrutiny in recent campaigns with suggestions that the Brazilian is beyond his peak. However, Robson believes he doesn't receive the recognition he merits and would welcome another player of his calibre arriving this winter.

Robson told Sportsboom: "People say he's not this or he's not that, his legs have gone. Not for me, Casemiro is still a fantastic player, and he would be on my team sheet every time. I think we'd benefit from another Casemiro-like midfielder, that would definitely help us."

Robson also expressed his belief that Kobbie Mainoo could still carve out a future at the club, despite seeing little action under Amorim. The ex-Middlesbrough manager stated: "I think the future is bright, the club has some great young players.

"I still think there's a lot more to come from some of these young players, just look at Kobbie Mainoo.

"He had so many injuries last year, it really was a stop-start season for him, but you look at the year before and he was outstanding for the last six months of the season. There's a lot more to come from Mainoo and the other young lads."
