Ruben Amorim says Man Utd have a player who is completely different on and off the pitch,‘You can see…’

Ruben Amorim has now spent more than a year at Manchester United, so he has a firm grasp of what his players are like, which is why his description of one was particularly interesting.

Generally, Ruben Amorim doesn’t like to build his players up too much, aware of the counterproductive effect it can have on the dressing room.

It is why his fleeting moments of unqualified praise for a player become such big news, like when he called Leny Yoro potentially one of the best in the world.

Ruben Amorim’s insight on Senne Lammens

Man Utd’s current unbeaten run has coincided with Senne Lammens‘ debut, who is yet to taste defeat in Man Utd colours.

Lammens’ impact on the team has been outstanding, mainly because of his solid fundamentals and the sense of calm he radiates in the team.

That impact hasn’t gone unnoticed by Amorim, who gave Lammens his flowers, having also accepted previously how surprised he’s been by how quickly Lammens has settled.

“What’s the price? 20 million Euros, that tells me he’s not a top goalkeeper.”

The Man Utd manager has now given an interesting insight into Lammens, saying he is completely different on the pitch than he is off it.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Amorim said: “[Senne Lammens] is still really shy. Sometimes you have a player completely different inside the pitch. Lammens is the same. He’s really calm, always in control.

“That is the difference between on and off the pitch. In the game, he’s not shy. He’s composed. He brings that little bit of character, and that helped the team.

“He helped us a lot with that confidence, brought a new calm to the team, and that is really important.”

Ineos deserve credit for Lammens’ signing

Lammens is the story of the season now, but back on deadline day, his signing wasn’t entirely supported unanimously by the fanbase.

Even Amorim preferred a more ready, “plug-and-play” option like Emi Martinez, which could have led to Villa signing Lammens instead.

United didn’t make that mistake, however, backing themselves to have the right judgment about Lammens’ mentality and his ability to make a huge step up.

Now that he has managed it, Ineos deserve credit for sticking to their guns and bringing Lammens in, who can be United’s answer to a pain point in goal for the next decade.
