Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford has given a fresh update on his fitness after he missed out on playing for Barcelona at the newly refurbished Camp Nou. The 68-cap England player has impressed for the Catalan giants ever since he made the move in the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old has scored six goals and assisted nine so far this season over 16 appearances in all competitions, settling in well to a new league - and environment. Rashford's momentum was halted somewhat on his return to the club this weekend, however, due to a fresh illness he picked up.

The loanee arrived for training in the days before Barcelona's meeting with Athletic Club, with Rashford sent home with "serious concerns" over his health. Hansi Flick confirmed that was the reason for his absence, though Barcelona still impressed with a 4-0 win in La Liga.

That was in front of a packed out crowd at the revamped Camp Nou, with the first outing there being something of a dream for most players. Rashford was denied that chance, but it seems as though he is set to return to action soon, after a fresh update on his fitness.

The forward took to social media on Sunday, posting an image of himself in Barcelona training. The caption simply reads: "Feeling better and back with the team."

It's a positive update for Rashford, who will look to get back into the line-up when Barca take on Chelsea in the Champions League in midweek. The England international has a positive record against the Premier League outfit from his time with United.

In 21 appearances against Chelsea, the 28-year-old has a record of seven wins, eight draws, and six defeats, while he has a knack for finding the back of the net against them, as well. Rashford has scored six goals and assisted five in those matches, which included a stunning free-kick back in 2019.

Another positive display for the United star could see him extend that impressive record, while getting one over a Premier League rival. Of course, there is an element that many fans would want to see those performances played out on the pitch for United instead of another club.

Wayne Rooney certainly feels that way when speaking in late October about Rashford. He said on BBC Sport's The Wayne Rooney Show podcast: "I'd much prefer to see him do that for Man Utd, if I'm honest.

"But no, listen, I don't think it was the easiest start, the first couple of games, and there were people talking about him, but he's got his head down, he's doing well, he's playing well, and for any young English player, and especially someone you know and you want to do well, it's great to see that.

"Listen, Marcus Rashford at his best is a top, top player and that's what we all want to see and just hope he stays settled and he keeps performing, keeps working and if he does that then I don't think there's any doubt about his ability. And you know what, I think fair play to Thomas Tuchel for bringing him in [for England] and playing him, as well."

It remains to be seen where Rashford's future could lie after this season, with a permanent option clause included in his Barca loan that could see him make the switch at the end of the season. However, if that doesn't go through, then it's unclear if there could be a way back in at Old Trafford or if a move elsewhere is necessary.
