Peterborough United’s FA Youth Cup team will play their third round tie against Manchester United at iconic Old Trafford.

The ‘Theatre of Dreams’ will host the match on Tuesday, December 9 (7pm kick off), on the same night Posh visit Reading for a League One game. Old Trafford wasn’t available for any other date.

United have won the competition more times than any other club and will start as hot favourites to beat a Posh team likely to include recent first-team squad members Lucca Mendonca, Fabian Claxton and Bolu Shofowoke.

Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for Under 16s. They can be purchased here

Posh Under 18 boss Jimmy Unwin said: “I am delighted for all the players and staff. It’s a great opportunity for us to showcase the levels of our players against one of the countries top Academies and we are looking forward to the challenge. It is brilliant the game is at Old Trafford and that is a reward for everyone involved."

Posh U18s hit form with a vengeance on Saturday when despatching higher level Stoke City 5-0 in a Premier League Cup group match.

Shofowoke went past 20 goals for the season with a brace, including a penalty, while Patryk Sykut also scored twice with Eddie Fox completing the scoring. Posh have now qualified for the next stage of the competition.

Posh host Sheffield Wednesday in a Premier Development Under 18 League game on Saturday.

Posh, who are a clear second in their section, don’t play a Professional Development Under 21 League game again until the New Year. Midfielder Joe Andrews has joined National League North side Bedford Town on a month’s loan to keep his match fitness up.
