Manchester United are reportedly still monitoring Angelo Stiller ahead of a potential move at the end of this season. United were one club credited with an interest in the Stuttgart midfielder during this year's summer transfer window.

Their recruitment department ultimately pursued alternative targets, with Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Senne Lammens signed instead. There are now signs of progress under Ruben Amorim this campaign, and the upcoming transfer windows could prove crucial in helping United advance further.

Midfield is now a key focus for reinforcement. Carlos Baleba is among several candidates linked with a move to Old Trafford who could strengthen the squad.

Stiller remains in the frame and could represent significantly better value compared to Premier League-based alternatives, making him an appealing target.

Sky Sports Germany reported in October that United remain keen observers of the Germany international. Stuttgart could seek a fee exceeding €50m (£44m) to sanction his departure next summer.

Discussion surrounding his future extends beyond transfer speculation. Stuttgart's sporting director, Fabian Wohlgemuth, addressed questions about Stiller's situation on Sky 90, via Sport.

He said: "He has a contract with us. It's far too early to speculate about that.

"Of course, one or two clubs will have had their eye on him. He's having an outstanding season.

"Maybe he'll even play in a World Cup, we'll see. We're happy he's with us.

"That's part of the entertainment we have to cover. But there's nothing concrete. He can concentrate fully on VfB Stuttgart."

The 23-year-old has featured 18 times this campaign in all competitions. He has one goal and five assists during that period.

A switch to United could arrive at a crucial moment when Amorim requires fresh blood in his midfield department, with several alterations on the horizon. Casemiro's deal runs until 2026, and although his displays have been notable this term, doubts surround his long-term prospects beyond the summer window.

Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte have found game time limited this season, with Bruno Fernandes positioned above the duo in the hierarchy, raising doubts about their respective futures. Consequently, significant changes could be on the cards, with Stiller among those who might secure a transfer to Old Trafford in the coming months.
