Man Utd Player Ratings vs Everton: Lammens gets 4/10 but Amorim must drop 3/10 flop after 0-1…

Manchester United suffered a shocking 1-0 defeat to Everton at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Monday evening.

Manager Ruben Amorim made two changes to his side that drew 2-2 with Tottenham Hotspur.

Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee replaced the injured duo Harry Maguire and Matheus Cunha.

Everton had started the game well before Idrissa Gueye was bizarrely sent off for slapping his own teammate Michael Keane.

Despite being reduced to ten men, the visitors snatched the lead through a brilliant long-range strike from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The Red Devils looked increasingly disjointed, prompting Amorim to introduce Mason Mount after the break in search of control and creativity.

The hosts monopolised possession but repeatedly ran into a blue wall, unable to carve open Everton’s stubborn defence.

Lisandro Martinez and Shea Lacey were part of the matchday squad but were not called upon.

This damaging defeat leaves United marooned in 10th place with just 18 points from 12 games.

Player Ratings

Senne Lammens – 4/10

His weak hand was not enough to stop the curling strike from Dewsbury-Hall.

He should have done better.

Leny Yoro – 4/10

Beaten too easily for the opening goal and made some appalling passes.

Matthijs de Ligt – 5/10

He earned a late point at Spurs and could have done it again but did not get the right contact.

Luke Shaw – 6/10

Amorim should have shifted him to the left wing-back spot as he looked the only defender who knew how to deliver crosses.

Noussair Mazraoui – 5/10

The expectations were high for the 28-year-old after picking up two assists in the international games. His crosses were not up to the mark and he was sacrificed at half-time for Mason Mount.

Patrick Dorgu – 3/10

A really poor performance from the Dane. He was played in brilliantly by Zirkzee but poorly miscued his shot.

Casemiro – 5/10

A regression from his improved displays, lacking the sharpness and control he had recently rediscovered.

Bruno Fernandes – 5/10

His long-range strikes kept Everton on edge, but his erratic passing repeatedly let his team down when they needed composure most.

Bryan Mbeumo – 5/10

A rare night where Mbeumo failed to provide any cutting edge in the final third.

Amad Diallo – 6/10

Diallo looked lively in the attack, creating four chances but only one of his five shots was on target.

Joshua Zirkzee – 5/10

Looked rusty in his first start of the season but came close to heading it home late in the game. He dropped deeper to link up with his teammates but has to learn to be more selfish.

Substitutes

Mason Mount – 5/10

His curling shot looked destined to miss the target.

Kobbie Mainoo – 4/10

Mainoo had 30 minutes to remind everyone of his talent but failed to make any difference. A loan move makes sense now.

Diogo Dalot – 4/10

Why would Amorim send him on for Dorgu with Everton reduced to ten men? A baffling substitution, followed by a virtually unnoticeable display.
