Ruben Amorim gives three-word verdict on Joshua Zirkzee performance for Manchester United vs…

Manchester United 0-1 Everton match review and highlights

Man Utd made two changes to their starting line up as they lost 1-0 to Everton on Monday night.

The Dutch forward was handed his first start of the season as United made two changes from the side that drew 2-2 with Tottenham Hotspur before the November international break. Zirkzee started in attack in place of the injured Benjamin Sesko, while Leny Yoro came into the backline in place of the injured Harry Maguire.

Neither of the players were able to inspire United, though, as their five-match unbeaten run came to an end in embarrassing circumstances. Everton played the majority of the match with 10 men after midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye was shown a red card for fighting with teammate Michael Keane after just 13 minutes.

Amorim verdict on Zirkzee performance

Joshua Zirkzee has had to wait for his opportunity in the Manchester United side but failed to take his chance as they lost 1-0 to Everton last night. The Dutch forward was given his first start of the season and played the entirety of the match as United failed to make their man advantage count.

Zirkzee struggled in the opening exchanges but grew into the game towards the end and tested Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford with a few headed efforts. The 24-year-old produced one brilliant effort in particular that looked certain to go in but produced an even better save from the Everton shot-stopper.

It is unclear how many more opportunities Zirkzee might get, with Benjamin Sesko injured for a few weeks, while Matheus Cunha could be back for the trip to face Crystal Palace on Sunday lunchtime. Speaking after the Everton defeat, Amorim was asked for his verdict on the striker's performance.

“He did alright but I think everyone should play better tonight," Amorim told NBC Sports. When pushed for an update on Cunha's injury situation, the United head coach added: “Let’s recover Cunha and we’ll see if he will be ready for the next game.”
