Man United just broke 46-game record vs Everton which adds to Ruben Amorim embarrassment

Manchester United failed to score past Everton despite having a numerical advantage for most of the match.

Ruben Amorim cut a frustrated figure on the sidelines as Manchester United were beaten 1-0 by Everton at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils started slowly, but were given a golden opportunity to flip the momentum when Idrissa Gueye was sent off for slapping his teammate Michael Keane.

Man United had never lost to 10 men at Old Trafford

Gueye’s moment of madness handed United an advantage, but the Red Devils continued to get outclassed by David Moyes’ side.

Once Dewsbury-Hall opened the scoring, Everton were able to sit back and defend their lead. They failed to have another shot on target after breaking the deadlock.

With no Benjamin Sesko or Matheus Cunha available, United had no response in the final third. It was the first time that United have been defeated by 10 men at Old Trafford.

As pointed out by Opta Joe, United have won 36 and drawn 10 of their last 46 matches when the opposition had a man sent off at Old Trafford.

If Amorim wasn’t already embarrassed by his side’s performance, it will now go down in the history books for breaking a 46-match record.

Man United’s shooting struggles vs Everton

Joshua Zirkzee was given a chance to lead the line for United in the absence of Cunha and Sesko, but he failed to take his opportunity.

However, it is hard to pick out any strong performances against Everton. The stats from the match prove that there were enough chances created to take all three points, but once again it was poor finishing which proved costly.

United had 23 shots in total, with only six on target. In comparison, Everton scored from their only effort on goal.

Bruno Fernandes tested Jordan Pickford from range, and Zirkzee had two headers saved, but overall the quality in the final third was hugely lacking.
