Man United'crazy'about€10m star but face competition from Premier League rivals

Manchester United have been credited with an interest in RB Leipzig midfielder Assan Ouedraogo.

The Red Devils are one of the Premier League clubs ‘crazy’ about the teenage sensation and are already ‘scouting’ him, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.

They face competition from Chelsea for his signature, with the Blues also scouting the Schalke 04 academy graduate.

Ouedraogo is under contract with Leipzig until 2029 and has no release clause. He is valued at €10 million, but Die Roten Bullen are expected to demand more, given his form this season.

The 19-year-old is enjoying a breakthrough season with Leipzig, chipping in with three goals and three assists in the Bundesliga.

Described as ‘intelligent‘ by former Leipzig sporting director Rouven Schroder, Ouedraogo has played as a central midfielder in manager Ole Werner’s 4-3-3 formation.

He also recently made his mark on the international stage, scoring on his debut for the German senior team, becoming the youngest debutant to score since Klaus Stürmer in October 1954.

Despite their reported interest in the Leipzig youngster, the Mancunian giants would prefer a move for Premier League-proven midfielders over him.

The Red Devils are strongly interested in Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, while Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba remains on their radar after last summer’s failed pursuit.

Man United prioritised the signings of forwards Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha due to their English top-flight experience, and both have hit the ground running.

Having seen the success recorded with the acquisition of the duo, United are likely to use the same approach in bolstering their midfield, making a move for Ouedraogo unlikely.
