Manchester United are interested in signing RB Leipzig midfielder Assan Ouedraogo next summer, Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed.
The Old Trafford side are anticipating a midfield overhaul next year and are believed to have identified the 19-year-old as a promising option to boost Ruben Amorim’s squad.
Ouedraogo is on the radar of several Premier League clubs amid his emergence in the Bundesliga, with Chelsea among those keen.
The 19-year-old could potentially emerge as a low-cost alternative in Man United’s search for a new midfielder, with Premier League stars Elliot Anderson and Carlos Baleba topping the shortlist.

According to Plettenberg, Premier League clubs, including Man United and Chelsea, are ‘crazy’ about signing Ouedraogo next summer.
The Red Devils are claimed to be already scouting the promising 19-year-old, who has registered three goals and three assists in 11 appearances in the Bundesliga this season.
Ouedraogo, who joined Leipzig from Schalke in the summer of 2024, is under contract with the German side until June 2029, with no release clause included in the agreement.
Plettenberg claims the midfielder is nurturing hopes of securing a spot in Germany’s World Cup squad amid his breakout season.
Ouedraogo received his debut call-up for the senior national side for November’s international break and scored on his debut in the 6-0 win over Slovakia.

Ouedraogo’s first season at Leipzig was severely disrupted by injuries. The 19-year-old made just three Bundesliga cameos amid two separate setbacks, plus one appearance in the German Cup.
After returning to full fitness ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, the German starlet has been shining for Leipzig, registering six goal contributions in his last eight Bundesliga matches.
Following a 2-0 win over Werder Bremen on Sunday, where Ouedraogo got on the scoresheet again, Leipzig boss Ole Werner praised the midfielder:
"Assan had two good chances in the first half. He's an unbelievable talent. He's nice because he never assumes that he's going to score and takes responsibility on the pitch."

While they are expected to sign a new midfielder in 2026, Man United are also aiming to keep Brazil international Casemiro beyond his contract expiry.
According to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils are willing to offer the 33-year-old midfielder a new contract on reduced wages due to his importance to Amorim.
