REPORT: £75M Rated Forward Has Told Club He 'Wants Arsenal' Transfer

Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi has made Arsenal his “preferred destination”, according to reports.

The Mirror claim that the German international has told his current team that he “wants Arsenal”, although any transfer is unlikely to happen before the end of the season.

Adeyemi has been in talks with Dortmund about extending his contract, but an agreement over a new deal has not been reached.

The Bundesliga side will reportedly hold out for a fee in the region of £75m if a team makes an approach for the 23-year-old in the New Year.

Arsenal have stolen a march on their rivals

Manchester United were also said to be interested in Adeyemi, but it looks like they will now move on to other targets after learning about the player’s preferred club.

The Red Devils had been targeting the forward to strengthen their options up front in January, with it being suggested that Joshua Zirkzee is keen on leaving Old Trafford in order to get more first-team football.

Is Adeyemi a top target for the Gunners?

Despite the German’s interest in moving to the Emirates, you do wonder whether Mikel Arteta’s side will prioritise a move for him next summer.

Adeyemi can play either as a striker or on the right wing, and neither of those positions is in need of an upgrade.

Arteta has Viktor Gyokeres, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus to choose from in the number nine role, while Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli can be deployed on the right flank.

Even if Jesus and/or Martinelli were to be offloaded, it is unlikely that the club would spend close to £75m to bring in a replacement for someone who would be classed as a squad player. Even so, Adeyemi’s situation is one to keep a close eye on.
