Joao Gomes is confident he will be a Manchester United player on January 1.
Globo confirms reports from Trivela last week that United are in advanced negotiations with Wolves for the midfielder.
The report states that the clubs are in talks for a transfer that will cost Man Utd €49 million.
It adds that both Man Utd and the player himself are confident that the transfer will be completed by the end of the year and Joao Gomes will be a Red Devil on January 1.
Joao Gomes to Man Utd
United's main priority in the January transfer market is to sign a top central midfielder.
The centre of the park has been a problem area for United for a number of years now.
United have shortlisted a host of central midfielders, including Brighton's Carlos Baleba, Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton and Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson.
United tried to sign Baleba in the summer and this January have been considering the Ecuadorian again, along with Wharton and Anderson.
However, these three midfielders have all proven to be very difficult deals to do in January, whereas Gomes is easier to complete.
The 24-year-old has been one of the Premier League's best-performing midfielders since joining Wolves from Flamengo in January 2023.
Gomes is known for his defensive qualities, his tackling and running, shielding the Wolves defence excellently.
United will lose their best defensive midfielder in 2026 as Casemiro's contract expires at the end of the season and he will not sign a new deal.
Manuel Ugarte has struggled since his move from PSG and will likely be sold next summer.
Gomes' contract at Wolves expires in 2028.
