Senne Lammens has revealed his true feelings to Sir Alex Ferguson’s praise of the Manchester United summer signing’s run of form at Old Trafford since his arrival.

He can kick long balls with a lot of quality with both feet, and that is a detail that can change the way we play the game.

Senne Lammens has been between the sticks for all six of United’s Premier League matches, with the Red Devils summer signing keeping one clean sheet so far.

The former Royal Antwerp star has impressed with his early run of form at Old Trafford and has been a calming presence for United in the backline set-up.

Lammens signed for United on deadline day and the Belgium international’s arrival from Royal Antwerp marked the end of Andre Onana’s run as United No 1.

Despite only one Premier League clean sheet in six matches, the Belgium and United player has commanded his area and has proved to be an effective shot-stopper.

Lammens caught the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson after his start to life in England, with the iconic former United manager in awe at what he has achieved so far at the club.

“What’s the price? 20 million Euros, that tells me he’s not a top goalkeeper.”

Lammens appeared on the latest episode of the ‘Inside Carrington’ podcast and the United summer signing has now reacted to Ferguson’s comments about him.

“I read it somewhere and at first I couldn’t really believe it, to be honest,” he said.

“Such a big name and especially at this club. So, I was a little bit surprised, but yeah, it felt really good, to be honest.

“I haven’t met him yet, so I’m looking forward to that as well. But coming from him, yeah, it’s really nice to hear as well, someone with so much experience and such a big name at this club.”

What did Sir Alex Ferguson actually say about Man Utd summer signing Senne Lammens?

Ferguson, who is widely regarded as one of the best managers of all time, welcomed the impact that both Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have had at United.

But the 83-year-old United legend was impressed more so by Lammens and Ferguson labelled the Belgium international as “outstanding” for the Red Devils.

Giving young people an opportunity is a fantastic thing and they very seldom let you down. These lads never let me down when they put that jersey on.

“There are signs, the manager has had some good signs,” Ferguson told Raceday RTV earlier this month.

“Particularly the goalkeeper – he’s been outstanding. He’s only played three or four games and he’s looking really good.

“Of course, Mbeumo and Cunha, the new players from Wolves and Brentford, have added to it.

“I hope the manager gets a bit of success because at United you need to have success – and the signs are getting better.

“I think back-to-back wins is something teams like United should always expect. But having gone through a cycle where improvement requires patience, they’ll enjoy it now.”

United made a deadline-day move for Lammens and paid an initial fee of £18.1m to Royal Antwerp to bring the Belgian prospect to Old Trafford in September.
