Senne Lammens has singled out one Manchester United legend he’d like to call a teammate, with his choice being a popular figure among the fanbase for his ability to lead the dressing room and dominate games against top opposition.
Ruben Amorim is still in the process of rebuilding the Manchester United squad while trying to implement his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation.
United signed five players in the summer, including a new goalkeeper, as Amorim permitted Andre Onana to join Trabzonspor on loan for the entire season.
Senne Lammens joined from Royal Antwerp on transfer deadline day before overtaking Altay Bayindir as Amorim’s preferred goalkeeper.
Since then, Sir Alex Ferguson has praised Lammens and believes he is an upgrade on Onana, who moved to Old Trafford in 2023 before two disastrous seasons between the sticks.
The 23-year-old is still adjusting his game in the Premier League with a new group of teammates. It will take time, but the first impressions have been good.

Senne Lammens admires Roy Keane’s leadership
It’s still early days in Lammens’ United career, but it is positive to hear him speak about former players who led by example on the pitch.
Coming from the Belgian league to the Premier League is a huge job, not to mention that he has joined the biggest club in the division, where the pressure is mighty.

Ruben Amorim is excited about Senne Lammens
He can kick long balls with a lot of quality with both feet, and that is a detail that can change the way we play the game.
Lammens appeared on the recent episode of the Inside Carrington podcast when he was asked to name one former United player he’d like to have as a teammate.
The young stopper admitted that he idolised Cristiano Ronaldo growing up, but he opted to pick former captain Roy Keane due to his leadership qualities.
“Yeah, I think I’ll go Roy Keane to be honest,” Lammens said.
“I think the easy answer is Cristiano Ronaldo because growing up he was like my idol as well when he was still playing in Man U. But I think just as a leader aspect and a guy to have in a team, I think he’s a really good one to have as well.”
Keane would certainly make a difference in the current dressing room, especially when it comes to delivering some unwelcome truths about players.
Man Utd captains since Roy Keane
United have had eight captains since Keane left the club in 2005 following a spat with Ferguson.
Gary Neville took the armband from the former Republic of Ireland international, while Bruno Fernandes is the current club captain.
Here is the full list of captains since Keane.
Gary Neville
Nemanja Vidic
Wayne Rooney
Michael Carrick
Antonio Valencia

It remains to be seen who the next leader of the dressing room will be once Fernandes departs. Matthijs de Ligt could be a contender if he continues to perform on the pitch.
