On November 12th, we covered claims from Sweden about Manchester United interest in Malmö FF goalkeeper Melker Ellborg. It was reported the Red Devils have been following him live in action.
The report also suggested the 22-year-old could receive offers in the winter market.
Expressen have contacted the stopper to get his views on the Manchester United interest.
Ellborg has conceded four goals and kept six clean sheets from 10 matches in the league and Swedish cup this year.
The newspaper explain his impressive performances have seen him attract the attention of several European clubs. They point out Manchester United are said to have included the Swede in their shortlist.
When asked about these links, he said: “It came a bit out of nowhere but of course it’s fun to be on those clubs’ radar. It’s awesome.”
The goalkeeper insists he hasn’t heard from the Red Devils so far. He has left his agent to take care of his future.
“But for now, a rumour is just a rumour. As long as there’s nothing concrete, it’s not something I focus on,” Ellborg explained.
“The deal between me and my advisors is that I get on with it and focus on my own. They take care of the rest.”
Ellborg is set to start for his side when they face Nottingham Forest in the Europa League on Thursday.
Expressen suggests the clash in England could see Manchester United take a closer look at him. However, the player wants to focus on Malmö for now.
“I think for me it works best to just be in the moment and focus on what I have to do. Of course, it’s flattering. You can see it as a carrot and a proof that you have done something well,” he added.
