The latest Man Utd injury news and latest after a setback for one of their loan players.

The 21-year-old joined Championship side West Bromwich Albion in the final days of the summer transfer window after being told he would struggled for playing time in the United first-team this season. Collyer has made 13 appearances for the United senior side but was always going to suffer from their reduced fixture schedule after they failed to qualify for Europe.

Collyer has made 12 appearances on loan at West Brom this season and had just earned a place in the starting line-up when he suffered an injury setback last month. He started against both Millwall and Preston before an injury saw him miss the next four matches.

He returned to the matchday squad with cameo substitute appearances against both Oxford and Coventry and was handed a start against Birmingham on Wednesday night. However, the United loanee’s night came to an abrupt end when he was forced off after just 11 minutes with a fresh injury scare.

West Brom manager confirms Collyer injury

Toby Collyer has not played as much as he would have liked in the Championship this season but has gradually earned the trust of West Brom head coach Ryan Mason. He could form part of their starting line up when fit, but might have to wait a while before he can be unleashed again.

Speaking after the 1-1 draw with Birmingham in midweek, Mason confirmed the Manchester United loanee had suffered a fresh injury setback, with further assessment expected later this week.

"It's a muscle injury, yes. I think it's challenging for him, it's disappointing," Mason said in his post-match press conference. "He had a few last season at Man United, that's why I was very patient with him this season because I wanted to give him the best opportunity to grow into the demands of this league.

"But for something to happen after 11 minutes, it's disappointing. It looks like it (a hamstring issue). We'll assess him in the next couple of days and see where we're at with that."
