Loan +€25-30m obligation to buy looks route to signing Manchester United player in January

AS Roma have serious interest in signing Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee in the winter market.

The forward hasn’t enjoyed regular minutes this season. On Monday, he made his first start of the season in the league defeat to Everton.

On November 17th, Corriere dello Sport reported Zirkzee is keen on leaving Manchester United in January. Three days later, the same newspaper claimed agent commission are expected to be a problem for Roma, although that was later denied.

Another report from CDS stated yesterday that 24-year-old has said ‘yes’ to Roma.

Thursday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport relays that and then provides the latest.

After receiving the player’s approval and ironing out the agent commission, Roma have to work on an agreement with Manchester United.

The Giallorossi’s aim is to sign the Netherlands international on a loan deal with a buying option. CDS claims Ruben Amorim’s side would prefer to sell him in the next window.

The report states Roma won’t be able to buy him in January due to UEFA’s restrictions, but Manchester United want a permanent sale. Roma would prefer to postpone the payment of around €25-30m next summer as it would allow them to plan the budget depending on where they finish this season.

Roma’s obvious answer here is a loan with an obligation to buy next summer.
