Nottingham Forest vs Brighton in the Premier League from the City Ground this Sunday - 2.05pm
Three midfielders continue to be linked with a major transfer to Manchester United and two could be on display at the City Ground this Sunday.
Brighton's Carlos Baleba and Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson could go head to head, while Crystal Palace ace Adam Wharton will be action for Palace against Manchester United at Selhurst Park on Sunday.
Baleba, Anderson and Wharton are all on United's radar as Ruben Amorim looks to rebuild an ageing midfield this summer at Old Trafford.
United tried to sign Brighton's Baleba in the previous window but Albion's £100-plus valuation soon cooled their interest.
Baleba's form has dipped this season. He was substituted at halftime for the fifth time this term against the Brentford last week and there is a possibility he could be dropped for Albion's trip to Forest.
Albion head coach Fabian Hurzeler has though shown patience with the 21-year-old Cameroon international and believes he will find his best form once more.
‘We don’t put Baleba under pressure’
"Every player we try to get back to his full potential," said Hurzeler in his pre-match press conference.
"That's what we try to do step by step, We don't put Carlos Baleba under pressure by saying ‘you must play well’, he wants to play well.
“It's about the small steps. It's about how often is he switched on and trying to react well when we lose the ball.
"Sometimes you need to be patient, sometimes you need to be more demanding and more ruthless with players. But you always need to create the right environment and the right support around him."
The speculation of a move to United clearly unsettled Baleba but Hurzeler said that transfer link should now be a thing of the past.
"It's gone now.” said the German. “We are now four months into the season. We can't speak about these rumours anymore.
“It's about being a Brighton player. It's about performing here. It's about getting him back to his best level. To avoid the noise, avoid all the rumours and focus on things you can influence and the things you can do best. And that's football."
Hurzeler is a big fan of Elliot Anderson
The rumours though still persist for Baleba and Anderson. While Baleba has struggled, Anderson's performances have remained at the highest level and Hurzeler is a big fan of the former Newcastle man.
"It’s impressive how he's doing and how he's playing," said the Brighton boss.
"He has a big impact. He's always asking for the ball. He has great stats, so he's not always playing left or right, he's always trying to find vertical solutions.
"He is a player who always has a good understanding of the game. So overall, it's a joy to watch him. It's one player we must defend against, otherwise you can get problems."
