**West Ham are reportedly keeping a keen eye on Canadian Forward Promise David from Union SG, but will have to face competition elsewhere.**
After the club’s relentless efforts to sign Jonathan David last transfer window, it appears we’ve moved on to another Canadian David, only this one plays in the Belgian League!
Promise David has been attracting many headlines after his 22 G/A season last year, and so far this year, he’s scored 6 in 13 in the Belgian League, as well as 3 in 6 for the Champions League, his most recent goal coming last night, which secured victory over Galatasaray.
It’s no surprise to see the club take interest in the forward; he ultimately suits Nuno’s playstyle to a tee, and he’s everything you’d need for a Nuno forward. He’s tall \[6’3\], he has a burst of pace available to use, great at holding the ball up and as you’d anticipate, he’s also got an overall superb striker mindset.
At just 24 years old, he’s attracting the likes of Stuttgart, Brighton and Lille, so it certainly won’t be a gifted home run if the Hammers wanted to pursue the interest, but at this moment in time, he would likely be one of the best options we could achieve.
It’s unknown how much the Canadian International would cost, but given that his contract runs out in 2029, we certainly won’t be getting a discounted deal.
Union SG’s club record sale totals €23 million (£20.1m), and Promise David was purchased two seasons ago for just £600k! Subsequently, meaning you’d expect the fee to be around the pricetag region of £15-£25 million, whilst it’s difficult to pinpoint how much he’d cost, given the history, you’d suspect if an early deal in January were to be concluded, it’d be for around that figure.
His history is good, he fits Nuno’s description of what’s required and also won’t be costing an arm and a leg. Whilst it’s not possible to ‘Promise’ anything, it certainly seems David could be a significant piece of the puzzle for the Hammers in the hope of pushing forward.
