Former Manchester United star Bastian Schweinsteiger wants Red Devils target Angelo Stiller to sign for Bayern Munich. The Stuttgart ace is one of a number of options United are said to be looking at.
The Germany international was linked with an Old Trafford switch in the summer as United turn their attention to landing a central midfielder. Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton and Joao Gomes are among the primary names being considered to strengthen Ruben Amorim's squad.
Stiller remains under contract until June 2028 and according to Sky Deutschland, Stuttgart value the player at £44million. A deal at that price would see him become the club's second-most expensive exit, following Nick Woltemade's move to Newcastle in the summer.
But Schweinsteiger hopes to see Stiller remain in the Bundesliga; the 2014 World Cup winner would much rather see the 24-year-old return to the club where he started his career. "Angelo is a very interesting player," said Schweinsteiger during a recent event with the Kings League. "I would very much like to see him back at Bayern Munich."
Stiller is drawing interest from around Europe and has also been linked to Real Madrid. The midfielder has notched one goal and six assists in 19 appearances this season.
That has seen Stuttgart's sporting director, Fabian Wohlgemuth, address Stiller's future. The transfer chief appeared to push back on the prospect for now.
He said: "He has a contract with us. It's far too early to speculate about that. Of course, one or two clubs will have had their eye on him. He's having an outstanding season.

"Maybe he'll even play in a World Cup, we'll see. We're happy he's with us. That's part of the entertainment we have to cover. But there's nothing concrete. He can concentrate fully on VfB Stuttgart."
Stiller has admitted a move abroad could be on the cards in the future. "I’m definitely drawn to playing abroad at some point," Stiller he told Bild. "I thought Florian Wirtz’s decision to go to Liverpool was cool.
"At the end of my career, I absolutely want to play in the USA, in the MLS. This plan, this goal, is 100 per cent certain."
