Man Utd's last win away at Selhurst Park set up incredible unbeaten run, two current players started

Manchester United will be trying to end a six-year wait to beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

In their last outing, Manchester United lost 1-0 against Everton, as Ruben Amorim’s longest (five matches) unbeaten run since becoming head coach.

Matheus Cunha will be hoping to return to the line-up after taking a knock in training last week. The Brazil international missed a Christmas event in Altrincham as a result of a head injury.

It remains to be seen if Amorim will make any changes to his team that underperformed against David Moyes’ side, even though they spent most of the match reduced to 10 men.

Joshua Zirkzee made his first start of the season as United’s attack looked devoid of any cutting edge against Everton’s low block.

United will face an in-form Crystal Palace side this weekend, with the Eagles currently sitting fifth in the Premier League table after a strong start to the 2025/26 campaign.

Manchester United’s last win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park

It was a crucial match in the race for a top-four finish for United, back in the 2019/20 season.

The 2019/20 season saw United finish third in the Premier League, with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace proving crucial in the race for a top-four finish.

It was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first full season as United manager, and it was the last time United came away from Selhurst Park with three points.

Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan at Barcelona, opened the scoring on the brink of half-time. The England international received a pass from Bruno Fernandes before confusing Palace defenders and the goalkeeper with a dummy as he slotted the ball home.

That lead was doubled in the 78th minute when Rashford set up Anthony Martial for the match-winner.

The Red Devils needed a win to keep up with Leicester City and Chelsea in the race for a Champions League spot.

Amorim’s side will have to be at their best to get a similar result on Monday night because Palace have been one of the most impressive teams in the Premier League so far this season.

Three current Man Utd stars were involved in 2-0 win over Crystal Palace

There have been a lot of changes at United in the past four years.

Proof of that can be seen with the line-up from United’s win over Palace in 2020. Only three players from the current squad were part of the team for United’s last win at Selhurst Park – not including Rashford.

They include Harry Maguire and Fernandes, who were in the starting line-up, as well as Diogo Dalot.

It will be interesting to see how many of these players start this weekend.
