Marcus Rashford could finally get his wish and play at the Camp Nou this weekend. The on-loan Manchester United striker has previously spoken of his desire to play in front of Barcelona's fans at their iconic stadium after his career with the Spanish giants began at the Spanish Olympic Stadium.

he Catalan giants hadn't played at the Camp Nou since 2023, instead hosting fixtures at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, while their home undergoes a major £1.3 billion renovation project. However, the England forward missed out on Barca's homecoming last weekend through illness.

Barca made a triumphant return to the Camp Nou as they beat Athletic Bilbao 3-0, with Rashford forced to watch on from the sidelines. Ever since Rashford made the loan switch to Barcelona he confessed that a huge part of making the move was the chance to play at the legendary stadium.

He may now finally get his chance with Barcelona hosting Alaves in La Liga on Saturday afternoon. Upon joining Barca, Rashford said: "It's a very nice feeling. It's a beautiful stadium and when it is full it's going to be unbelievable. Camp Nou was always one of my favourite stadiums and one I wanted to play in."

He added: "But to play on it for Barcelona is going to be a different feeling. I cannot wait to be on the pitch. I will enjoy it."

The stadium's redevelopment is scheduled for completion in 2027, when its capacity will increase to 105,000, making it the fifth largest stadium in the world.

The club has also submitted a request to UEFA to switch their designated home venue back to the Camp Nou for the remainder of their Champions League fixtures this season.

Rashford has scored six goals and bagged nine assists across 17 matches in all competitions this campaign, with Barcelona sitting just three points adrift of Real Madrid in La Liga.

The 28-year-old has embraced his new surroundings after leaving United under a cloud following a breakdown in relations with United boss Ruben Amorim.

The Spanish press have even warmly welcomed Rashford, praising not only his on-pitch contributions but also how seamlessly he's settled into life in Catalonia.

Rashford, meanwhile, appears to be enjoying his new life. Speaking to ESPN on if he wanted to stay at Barcelona and make his move permanent, he said: "Oh yeah, for sure."

He added: "I'm enjoying this football club and I think for anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game. For a player it is an honour."
