Manchester United are back in Premier League action on Sunday, traveling to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace. The 2025 FA Cup winners have had a positive start despite losing their best player for the second year in a row. They’re currently sat in fifth place, but are just two points ahead of the Reds.
United haven’t won at Selhurst Park since Project Restart in the 2019/20 season, but they’re desperate to get back in the win column after a disastrous 1-0 loss to David Moyes’ Everton on Monday.
Here’s a few points of emphasis for Ruben Amorim’s side going against the Eagles on Sunday.
The last two performances have been dull, and much of that is due to the way United have started the games. Despite the issues United have faced this season, they started most games with some purpose, except for the one against Brentford. They have to get back to that if they’re to get their season back on track.
United struggled in the build-up against Everton’s press. Without Benjamin Sesko, the long option isn’t as effective. United will have to find another way, whether it be second balls or playing balls in behind Palace’s wingbacks, to get into the final third.
The injuries to Matheus Cunha and Benjamim Sesko will give some of the squad players a chance to impress. Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo won’t be available soon. The likes of Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount must demonstrate that they can offer serious competition for places.
