Atletico Madrid insiders have now shared what the La Liga club are really thinking about Manchester United-linked midfielder Conor Gallagher, according to stunning reports.

Conor Gallagher attracted the interest of Manchester United in recent months amid the Red Devils’ pursuit of a new midfielder for manager Ruben Amorim.

However, United face competition from fellow Premier League clubs like Newcastle, Everton and Tottenham in the race to sign the 25-year-old Atletico Madrid star.

Gallagher has been with the La Liga outfit since 2024 after Premier League side Chelsea sold the Blues academy product for a reported transfer fee of around £33m.

The former Chelsea midfielder is under contract with Atletico until 2029 and Gallagher has made 68 appearances for the club since his move to Spain.

Gallagher’s limited playing time for Atletico could put the Three Lions star at risk of missing out on Thomas Tuchel’s England squad at the World Cup next summer.

According to The Athletic, Atletico sources have said that United target Gallagher is still ‘happy in Madrid’ amid the transfer interest from clubs in the Premier League.

Gallagher was valued at £52.4m (€60m) in recent months, but reports have since said that Atletico could sell him for a fee between £26m to £30m (€30m to €35m).

Despite fighting for first-team minutes under Diego Simeone, The Athletic reports that Gallagher is trying to integrate himself into Atletico culture even further.

The news outlet has said that the former Chelsea talent is trying to ‘speak Spanish with the staff’ in a bid to ‘improve his language skills’ in the Spanish capital.

It is also believed that Atletico are ‘happy’ with how United-linked Gallagher has conducted himself at the La Liga club, including ‘with his work’ and his ‘attitude.’

Gallagher, who had multiple loan spells at other clubs during his time with Chelsea, has netted six times and registered six assists in his overall playing spell at Atletico.
