City were beaten 2-1 at Newcastle United in their first outing after the international break. Pep Guardiola’s side then suffered another defeat as a much-changed line-up lost to Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League in midweek.
United, meanwhile, were beaten 1-0 by 10-man Everton at Old Trafford on Monday night. The Toffees played the majority of the game a man down but were able to come out on top as the Red Devils saw their five-game unbeaten run come to an end.
VAR has proven to be a contentious issue since it’s introduction into the Premier League and City and United will hope they aren’t on the wrong end of any calls this weekend. City take on Leeds United at the Etihad Stadium while United travel to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
