Manchester United will have another chance to sign Serhou Guirassy in 2026 after new details emerged about his Borussia Dortmund contract.
In 2024, Manchester United were linked with Serhou Guirassy after the Guinea international proved to be one of the best strikers in the Bundesliga at VfB Stuttgart.
United skipped the chance to sign Guirassy as he joined Borussia Dortmund in a £15 million deal. It was later seen as one of the many mistakes United had made in recruitment before Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos took control of football operations.
The alternative to Guirassy that summer proved to be Joshua Zirkzee, who has since scored seven goals in 55 matches for United. He got a rare start in United’s 1-0 win over Everton on Monday night, drawing criticism for his performance in Benjamin Sesko’s absence.
A conversation worth having is whether United need to sign another striker. It will be required if Zirkzee leaves Old Trafford.

Man Utd could activate Serhou Guirassy release clause
Guirassy remains a key player for Borussia Dortmund after scoring nine goals in 17 appearances this season.
The 29-year-old is under contract at Dortmund until 2028, but a release clause means the Bundesliga outfit runs the risk of losing their star striker before then.
Guirassy’s future has taken centre stage after Sky Sports revealed further details on his release clause, which becomes valid in the summer of 2026.

It is understood that Guirassy’s release clause could see him join one of seven top clubs for around £44 million (€50m).
The release clause is exclusively available to United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal.
